<p>Selhurst has a few significant landmarks and services. Selhurst is named after the Anglo Saxon words for &#8220;dwelling in a wood&#8221;. Evidence of a Saxon settlement was found when the train depot was built. The land was once owned by Henry VIII. Heavers Meadow is a meadow opposite the train station on the other side of the road.<br />
At 30 Dagnall Park lived the great black composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912)</p>
<p>The Brit School<br />
The BRIT School for Performing Arts &amp; Technology &#8211; The London School for Performing Arts &amp; Technology) is an independent, state funded arts and technology school located in The Crescent, Selhurst in Croydon. The BRIT School is dedicated to education and vocational education for the performing arts, media, art and design and the technologies that make performance possible. Its principal is Nick Williams.</p>
<p>Selhurst Park<br />
Is a British football stadium located in the London suburb of South Norwood in the Borough of Croydon. It is owned by Simon Jordan, and is the current home ground of Crystal Palace Football Club, of which Jordan is chairman. Its present capacity is 26,309, making it the 31st largest stadium in English football.</p>
<p>The area has all types of people on incomes across the scale, the main point to take into account if considering living in the area is purchase of a home anywhere near the stadium will of course mean that on match days, the area will be choke full of traffic, noise and football fans. if you happen to be a football or eagles fan yourself, then you may not view this fact as a huge problem!</p>
<p>Selhurst Train Station<br />
Selhurst railway station is in the London Borough of Croydon in South London. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Southern, and it is in Travelcard Zone 4.</p>
